Priscilla Peterson
Wearable Art
Priscilla Peterson learned to sew from her mother, and completed her first sewing project at the age of 8 - a pair of khaki shorts for her summer fun! By the age of 14, she was altering patterns to include interesting aspects. By 18, she was drafting patterns completely on her own - even though she had no formal training.
It wasn't until 1997 that she started applying collage techniques to clothing. Wondering what to do with leftover scrap fabrics, the idea suddenly dawned that complimentary fabrics would make clothing even more interesting!
A keen observer of people, Priscilla believes that we are all interesting. As such, she believes we should look as interesting as we are! She doesn't think of her clothing as wearable art. Rather, she hopes you will think of her vests, jackets and coats as something to be worn everyday. Her studio is in her home just north of downtown Seattle.
