About Manya Vee Selects
Manya Vee grew up on a farm where productivity was valued and beauty was considered a frivolous waste of time. Nevertheless, she was always drawn to beauty. A summer trip to Japan at the ripe old age of nineteen proved life-changing, as she experienced a cultural appreciation for simple beauty in everyday life - right down to the lovely decoration accompanying a take-out sushi tray!
Lured back to Asia by its fascinating beauty, Manya spent 7 years post-college traveling all over Asia, and teaching English in China, Taiwan and Indonesia. It was in Taiwan that she met her husband and business partner, dramatist Jeff Stilwell, who was also fascinated with Asia. Their shared adventurous spirit and appreciation of beauty in everyday objects now finds its voice in their gallery in the charming village of Edmonds, Washington. Manya Vee Selects quickly became a regional leader in fine art and fine craft, establishing Edmonds as a visual arts destination. The gallery owners also founded the celebrated Edmonds Third Thursday Art Walk, now enjoying its eighth year, at which over six hundred patrons attend the exhibitions of over forty regional artists that evening each month. Their newest project is the founding of the Edmonds Mural Society which successfully raised its first mural this summer and will be mounting five more in summer 2010.
