After years and years of admiring the jewelry in W magazine, Shari Both dove into it in January of 2000. Beginning with beadwork, she soon moved into working with wire, because for her, it made designing more interesting and challenging. A love of texture informs her use of sterling silver wire, and her approach is to create a look that seems random, but in fact comes from years of practice and mastery of the medium.

Largely self-taught, Shari has developed a unique way of combining gemstones, wire and chain. As a child, Shari was mesmerized by gemstones, the way the light makes them sparkle, the richness of color, and the shapes and textures. All her jewelry is made with her two hands in her Kenmore, Washington, studio. According to Shari, "this is my dream job, what I was meant to do."
