Malabar Pendulum Clock
The horizontal color bands of this pendulum wall clock are outlined by lines hand cut with a plasma cutter. The pendulum is visible through two openings. A hand held plasma cutter carves the designs into aluminum, which is then coated with other metals (typically copper, bronze and iron). Each of these metals reacts differently to the chemical patinas and dyes with which Rickard finishes the pieces, which reflect a love of geometry, movement and color.
